Surgery went well.
To say that I am grateful for the prayers, doesn't even scratch the surface.
The notes, the stop-bys, the cards, the texts, the prayer, the comments: humbling, overwhelming and beautiful.
Laying low. Tending the wounds.
Paying attention.
Resting and
ready. For whatever comes next.
A gift of words from the corners of my mind, shared here with you, for us, for whatever is coming our way. The ever beautiful Mary Oliver.
Wild Geese by Mary OliverYou do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Sending prayers and care your way as you heal. You would've loved the HFASS today. Cotton candy madness.

It's clear I need to read more Mary Oliver. What a lovely poem. I may have to steal that and post it on my blog one of these days.
And so glad you are on the mend. See you soon-
